Deer Encounter

By Coleen Harrington

The nights are getting cooler,

The harvest moon is near,

The season of the Deer Hunt,

Tells us fall is here.

Soon the silence will be broken

By the blasting of the gun

As Doe and Buck do frolic

And joyfully will run!

The hunter he is ready

To meet the challenge that this brings,

But what about the motorist

Who doesn't think about such things?

Quick from out of nowhere,

The mighty deer in flight!

A hood ornament for your Chevy,

As he barrels through the night.

So when you pass a mighty herd

As peacefully they graze,

Use it as a reminder

To our great God be praise!

When you drive by safely

Don't count it unto luck.

Lift your voice and praise Him!

Thank God I passed the buck!
