Wild Game Dinner 2002: “A Huge Success”

 

What a night we had! The delicious aroma of home cookin’ filled the Fellowship Center…Our chef’s Bea and Gerald Gallaugher prepared a spread that lured in multitudes of hungry folks including men, women, and children. Christian fellowship filled the air along with the sweet smell of country quisine! The menu… wild game at its best… six tables full to be exact. Menu items of venison stew, meatloaf, meatballs, sloppy doe, roasts and bar-b-ques. Surrounded by plate after plate of rabbit, squirrel, antelope, frog legs and turtle… and the list goes on!

 

Guest speaker, Tom Wagner, a church Pastor and outdoorsman from Mt. Sterling Ohio, captured the attention of all as he delivered a wonderful devotional concerning the “Christian hunter.” Tom spoke about the importance of respecting what God has given us, abiding by game regulations, and practicing sound hunter ethics. He emphasized that fact that we should be an ultimate leader and example representing Christ in all that we do!

 

The evening was brought to climax as the Whitetail 2001 Awards were given out. The wall was filled with two dozen “monster bucks” which were set up for display by members of the Fellowship of Christian Hunters. An additional display was delivered by All Seasons Taxidermy of Circleville, Ohio. Owner Jim Sites displayed his craftsmanship of deer, fish, and wildboar. The stage was impressively set the crowd applauded the 2001 award winners.

 

2001 Big Buck Archery was handed out to our webmaster, John Brown, who harvested a wonderful 10-point scoring 141 total inches. John’s buck was taken in Ross County, OH.

 

2001 Big Buck Crossbow was given to Tod Gallaugher, who harvested an excellent 12-pointer scoring 135 plus total inches. Tod’s buck was taken in Ross County, OH.

 

2001 Monster Buck Shotgun division went to Matt Taylor of Circleville, Ohio. Circleville is the home of the world-renowned “Pumpkin Show” is located in Pickaway County. Matt’s 12-point buck scored a massive 166 6/8 inches with a 24 ½ inside spread.

 

This years “Skunked Award” was given to Terry Bridenbaugh. Doug Dove, the award winner from 1999 and 2000, gladly presented Terry with the honor. All hunters present thanked Terry for his willingness to allow this years bucks to roam freely and gain another year of antler growth! Ha Ha! 

 

Other members receiving Whitetail Awards were: Larry McGuire, Dennis Garman, Joe Ott, RJ Donahue, Shannon Sexton, Doug Dove, Mark DePugh, Ricky Fultz, Seth Risner, Gerald Gallaugher, and Johnnie George.

 

All in all… We had a wonderful night (check out the pictures on the photo page)! We definitely enjoyed food, fun and fellowship. God is so good to us and He continues to bless our ministry. As always we give Jesus the praise, for He is worthy!
